I've called it that since it came out (thought I was a clever Tween) and I promise from the bottom of my heart, I am not saying it to poke fun or make light of it: I've written about it on here in the past, but I have never bawled from sadness/grief at a film in my life, once they started showing the typewriters after Omaha.
The realisation of how many young men/kids lost their lives and were just pure cannon fodder: these were sons, brothers, friends, uncles, etc., so many killed, so much lost and wasted life, all because a little madman was angry and tried to have fun with the world and people's lives...
It is easily one of the 5 best films I have ever seen, but I will never watch it again. I don't need that kind of sadness to come back
I didn't think you were making light of anything serious. I thought you were just referencing that MADtv skit that is making fun of how the adult entertainment industry makes parodies of mainstream movies. I agree Saving Private Ryan is an amazing, sad and very emotionally taxing film.
