That would literally be what Ford or Patrick would be for - injury coverage.
And no, you don't keep a subpar player because they stay generally healthy over a guy who would be an upgrade for 10-15 games a year just because he may miss a few games.

Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
