McKinnley is a one gap penetrating DT. It led to a fair number of run stops in college, but I don't think he has the same skill set as DJ Reader does.
Maybe I'm wrong and he'll develop the ability to control 2 gaps. But, for now, I consider Slayton our 2 gapping NT and then we have a bunch of 1 gap DTs to fill up the depth chart.
Cannot argue with any of that. Was a good move bringing in Slaton for this very reason. Needed a NT that could take up blockers and free up
others to make plays in the running game. I actually am excited to see how both Kris and McKinnley develop this year behind Hill and Slaton.
