When I was that age, I had a BMW convertible. I remember racing my coworker to the putting green over lunch sometimes at work. He had a Honda hatchback.
One day we were neck and neck at a train track right before the golf course. I was in the left lane, he was in the right, I slowed down to not jump it - he hit the accelerator and caught air. In front of him, a greyhound bus was parked in the right lane. He couldn't see it because the train track was on a hill.
I saw the greyhound was in his lane, so I pulled left into the oncoming traffic lane to make space, and I saw him pull into my lane to avoid the bus.
After that I told him we're not racing anymore lol.
Young people can make dumb decisions, regardless if people tell them it's a bad idea or not.
I also clearly remember taking 40 mph 90 degree turns at stoplights the first day owning my car, thinking it was able to do anything and I could control it.
