Why you do?

I grew up about an hour away from Pittsburgh. Started playing and watching sports in 1988. Bengals were good so presumable on TV a lot. I had like 4-5 channels on my TV as a kid.

I said to my dad I like the team with the orange helmets. Who's that? He was like Browns. Then, I was like with stripes and it was Bengals.

I remember in I think 3rd grade the Bengals SB run and kids talking about the teams in school. There were these two twin brothers that liked the 49ers.

I've always zigged when people zag. Like I do different things than the crowd. It's heavily Steelers fans here and I don't like going along with the crowd. All of my teams are from out of town except the Penguins. Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby, etc have all been likable and hockey fans around here seem to be generally cooler. Steelers fans are obnoxious largely.

Interestingly, I have pics of me as a baby in like a Steelers shirt that my grandparents bought me as they loved the Steelers.

All of my teams were good in 1988. Pistons, Bengals, Dodgers, and Bengals. Penguins won the cup a couple years later. There were songs about the Penguins and I remember being on school bus in elementary school and kids singing it. Thank goodness I didn't pick the Pirates as my primary team! Although, I do go to Pirate games. Nice stadium and get to see other teams.
