He already has the leverage if our defense is going to be ranked #32 in the league without him. And if the FO wins the argument and he plays for 1 more year on his current contract, he's going to get a that big payday he wants because the NFL is full of GMs who don't own the team and make crazy signings because they aren't able to shuffle their feet for 35 years like Mike Brown does.

I assume we just force him to play out his contract here, which means we have 2025 to win the SB because he's going to get a big deal in 2026 and it won't be from us, or else we'd give him one now, so our defense 2026 onward is going to risk being ultra crap.  Maybe we had just start telling ourselves that having the 32nd ranked defense is a good thing, because Burrow will see winning it all with that D as the ultimate challenge, or something.
