Whose side on you on? Trey, the Bengals or none?

He was very happy up until he went from an 8 sack season to 17.5 then he wanted to redo his contract for the second year in a row because his sack total jumped from 8 to 17.5.  If he had not been so greedy and demanded more money after just his second season, he would be in better shape now.  This current situation is Treys fault.  The Bengals gave Trey a big raise when he didnt deserve it but it ultimately worked in the Bengals favor because Trey didnt bet on himself.  The reality is you cant keep asking for a new contract every year because other guys sign larger contract than you did.

When talking about Trey's new contract the first point almost everybody wants to bring up is Trey was the NFL sack leader and deserves a raise because of his sacks.  It gets said over and over.    Im pointing out when he signed his extension for the 2025 season, he wasnt the NFL sack leader and was far from it.  He was #30 in sacks and the Bengals did him a solid when he didnt deserve a raise.  He was happy he got that raise coming off his 8 sack season until he had a 17.5 sack season then he wants to redo his contract again the very next year.  That's on Trey not Bengals management.

If he was 30th in all metrics the Bengals would've balked at an extension of any kind. They obviously saw all the numbers people are saying and wanted to keep him happy. Then obviously a 1 year extension is not going to keep someone happy for very long as it is 1 year. Then you add that he did continue to increase his level of play.
