The Bengals might have just picked a fight with the wrong rookie

'This would allow the Bengals to void future guarantees if he were to get into trouble (this could be a suspension for on-field conduct, off-field conduct, an arrest or anything else the Bengals can think of). Normally, a first-round pick gets a fully guaranteed four-year contract, but this would give the Bengals some wiggle room to potentially get out of that if he were to get into trouble at any point during his four-year deal.'
'Stewart's leverage. For most of NFL history, rookies were generally broke when they entered the league, so many of them would quickly sign their first contract so they could get the signing bonus in their pocket. That's not the case with Stewart, though. The former Texas A&M star collected plenty of NIL money in college, so he definitely isn't broke, which means he can afford to wait things out until he can get the Bengals to cave, if that's what he wants to do.'
Or Stewart picked a fight with the wrong stubborn 90 year old owner. I mean this is the same organization that said eff you to Ricky Hunley in 1984.
Next who's to say next season he's draft in the 1st round...or even better by a team that doesnt put this same "clause" in a contract? Whats he do then? Sit out again?
This is why i said NIL and all the college football $$$ and paying players, I dont blame the Bengals for wanting this clause in the contracts going forward especially if 21 other NFL teams currently have it in their contracts.
NIL and college football $$$ is going to be a HUGE headache for the NFL going forward IMO
