I really want to know if/how the Castellinis are in such financial dire straits that they haven't really increased the average payroll much at all in the past 10-15 years.
The average MLB player salary has increased 30% between 2015 to 2025, going from $3.9 mil to $5.16 mill.
The average MLB team payroll has increase from $87 mill in 2015 to $169.68 mill in 2025, an increase of nearly 2x.
Reds payroll in 2015 - $112.3 mill
Reds payroll in 2025 - $115.9 mill
Like...what?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
