32.5 million dollars guaranteed voided! For a failure to rehab the way the team requested it. Can't wrap my head around that.
Feels like this could be the kind of stuff Stewart's camp is worried about happening with the Bengals due to the contract language.
I can see some validity in saying, "Hey, we wanted you to do X to get your injury healed properly, but you chose to do Y and it looks like the injury is not recovered well enough. Therefore, we are voiding some $$ because you didn't listen to us and now unable to perform," but on the flip side, it's unknown if rehabbing the way the team wanted it would have actually gotten the injury properly recovered and in the timeframe they wanted.
Tough spot to be in.
Personally, I think contracts would be far more straightforward and easier to manage if there were either no partial guarantees or all of it was guaranteed.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
