No, because he is the coach and the buck stops here. This is no lame excuse but a pointing of the finger at the coach who had no control over his players. That coach for New England in no way would have let players have back to back unsportsmanlike conduct calls and move a teams from a 65 yard field goal to a 35 yard field goal taking no time off the clock at the end of the game. The better coaches do not allow players to get this insane and this far out of focus. Paul Brown, Lombardi, no way they allow a game to be lost this way.
As for the QB injury, McCarron threw what should have been the game winning TD....the Steelers catch called a TD was indeed a TD and a great catch.....the only BS about the penalties at the end was that the Bengals were full of BS for moving the ball 30 yards closer to a field goal and out of control, and that also has to be placed on the head coach. Either they don't listen to him, or they don't care what he thinks, one as bad as the other. ....The end of the game was a total lack of leadership by coaches and yes, team captains and veteran players who should have got players back under control or made them leave the field.
This is not an excuse...far from it....there is no excuse for lack of leadership.
