In '09 the O-line only had two starters who were drafted (Whit and Bobbie Williams). Evan Mathis was a former 3rd round pick, but when the Bengals obtained him he was on his third team in two years. He blossomed under the tutelage of Paul Alexander to the point where he was earning some starts, but he was injured mid-season and was not as effective when he returned.
But despite this patchwork O-line the Bengal offense was averaging 349 yards a game through the first half of the season when Chris Henry played. That would have ranked 13th in the league. Not great, but not bad considering the paucity of talent. Housh was gone. Benson missed a few games with injury. Our TEs were Danial Coates and JP Foschi.
