According to pro football reference we were 20th in 2012 and 24th in 2009.
NFL.com mistakenly had the Bengals (4.06 ypc) tied with the Lion (4.13 ypc) and Dolphins (4.10 ypc) in 2012, and I assume they did something similar in their 2009 rankings.
But yeah, we've generally struggled running the football for a decade now, despite 3 different RB coaches, 3 different OC's and countless RBs.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.
