I put it in Around the NFL because I thought it might be worth discussing the validity of "consistency".  

Other than the start of Noll's tenure (and the last few years) and a short dip in Cowher's it was easy for the team to stick with their coach.  I wonder what would happen if there was an extended time of losing football?  Would the "Steelers way" hold true then?

I doubt it.
