He just fits everything they like assuming his character is in order. Size, experience, versatility. I would not mind him at 24 at all.
Butler is from Mississippi and had offers from the surrounding area. Ole Miss, Miss St, So. Miss, UL-Lafayette, and Memphis all offered him. Keep in mind, he was a 270 pound DE during recruiting. The main thing I'm seeing is that he played as a true freshman at LA Tech. The other schools probably wanted him to redshirt. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen something like that play a big role in recruitment.
