I think the OP's phrasing of the question misses the point entirely.
Nobody is advocating for the FO to do a full 180 and adopt a win-now mindset. Most people are only asking for a slight deviation from it; to not adhere to it 100% of the time, every time.
The fact that we've seen some teams do exactly that and win a super bowl a short year later makes the Bengals' religious adherence to "sustainability" even more mind boggling. It's like working in a corporate office and hearing employees say "that's just the way we do things".
It's infuriating.
