The Bengals front office has done a great job with team/player friendly deals. You can't force a player to stay with the orginization ie Nelson and M Jones. If the Bengals had overpaid for Nelson the same people would be complaining about paying a 32 year old safety when we have Shawn Williams waiting to take over. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
Agree, mostly
Nelson will be 33 shortly after the season starts and is a lot closer to the end of his career than the beginning. It would have been nice to keep him another year but I totally understand why they weren't willing to give him longer term big money.
I feel pretty good about our secondary, including Williams.
