Sure hope this wasn't taken care of sooner because Eifert didn't want to miss out on his vacation time. I suppose we'll never know the answer to that but as it stands now the Bengals doctors appear super incompetent.

Even if a surgery is categorized as minor, it's still a surgery. Surgery is often considered a last resort since there are risks associated with any surgery. Eifert likely didn't want to have a surgical procedure unless necessary and thought seven months of healing without surgery would be enough time. It just hasn't progressed enough to feel confident he'd make it back by the start of the season, so he's now getting the surgery.
