Can he play disciplined: Nope
Can he tackle: Nope
Can he catch: Nope
Can he keep players in front of him: Nope
Do other teams want to pick on him: Yep
There's no way you can honestly call Kirkpatrick a good CB. The dude has been having people make excuses for him for four years about how he's been a "rookie"... and yet he still stinks. Dude is going to retire at the age of 32 or something and people will be like "oh, well he's basically a rookie, so you need to take that into account and give him a break."
Tied for 3rd in all positions. He also tied with Robinson and Suh. Also Jordan Reed had 1 less penalty.
Where is this missed tackle stat coming from? And the 11th YAC? I'm honestly curious because I can't find any of those besides PFF from forever ago.
2nd most targeted CB, and yet the pass defense still did that well? What? I mean, if PFF has him ranked as one of the worst of the worst, then why is the defense as a collective unit that good?
Can he tackle? He was 5th on the team in tackles. 2nd on the team in solo tackles, had only 1 less than Vinny Rey.
Can he catch? Since 2012, only Nelson and Adam Jones had more INTs than Kirkpatrick on this team. That includes Iloka and Hall.
Can he keep players in front of him? I mean, again, 6.2 YPA. Plus how many times did we see Kirkpatrick run down a player on the sideline because of other missed tackles?
There's no way you can say he's terrible. Because he's not. Is he the best? No, anyone who would believe that is asinine. I'm saying he's a solid player. Heck, he made some clutch plays for us as well. But guess we're gonna ignore those and only focus on the bad, huh?
He was a rookie. Cornerback is the hardest transition to the NFL. That's a fact. Every corner struggled early. You get better with more reps. Kirkpatrick finally became a starter. He's had some experience, he's done some good things, done some bad things. Players take time.
Who knows, Kirkaptrick could have an amazing year this year. It happens with cornerbacks. Just look at Josh Norman.
