Well, we haven't seen anything credible that suggests Bell, Bryant, or anyone else who's been popped by the NFL for weed, is using it for therapeutic reasons.  Let's be real, 99.9% of pot users start by using it recreationally, then try to point out it's potential medicinal uses as an argument for legalization.  If legalized for medicinal use country-wide, the NFL still won't allow because 99.9% of the players popped will be using it for recreational use and not as prescribed.
