Well the guy is a Seattle darling (for good reason) and already won a Super Bowl.  I think you have to be pretty popular to make an egregious error and then blame it on god intervening.  Even if the whole thing is real, Wilson is saying that god intervened and changed the outcome of the Super Bowl which affected fans (relatively), entire organizations that employ thousands of people, everyone who had financial interests in it, everyone who worked his entire life to play for or coach for each team, and so on and so forth.

All of those people were affected because god intervened.  And why did god intervene?  Because, according to Russel Wilson, he wanted everyone to see how RUSSEL WILSON reacts.  God did something that affects a lot of people for the sole purpose of putting the spotlight on Russel Wilson...according to Russel Wilson.

If I'm a Seahawks player and I worked my whole life to get the chance to win a Super Bowl and Russel Wilson says the reason I didn't get that chance was because god specifically wanted everyone to see how HE reacts to failure I would be somewhat miffed at the sheer audacity and ego being put forth.  That's just me.

It's not even like I have an issue Russel Wilson screwed up. It's that he screwed up and he's blaming it on god and the purpose is that god wants everyone to pay attention to Russel Wilson's reaction to what "god made happen." Lordy almightly.
