You don't get beat on the deep ball as often, but you sure as hell get killed underneath. I think a lot of it has to do with a lack of pressure up front.....which kind of forces your coverage to "keep everything in front of them" instead of pressing and taking more risk. Perhaps someone has a different view on it?
