A lot of us wish more companies would be that way, but it seems that's never the case for sports.
Look at it from Mike Brown's perspective. His dad dies, then he has a 14-15 year run of absolutely horrible football. He brings in Marvin...and Marvin doesn't gripe much about the organizational structure. Turns the team around with the owner as a GM. Plus, they apparantly can co-exist.
One of the biggest reasons Zimmer wasn't a HC in the NFL for so long was that he was so outspoken and owners worried about that.
