Electronic cigarettes.
They produce vapor instead of smoke. Thus you can replace smoke or smoking with vape or vaping as a verb.
Many people have accepted the mental conditioning that some organizations have pounded into them* so anything that even looks like smoking is more evil than a Nazi raping their grandmother while killing people they don't like, so therefore all vapers must die.
But in all fairness, I guess some of the cloud chasers (people who make really big clouds of vapor to impress others) are pretty annoying.
*some of how that was done was manipulation of the truth an sometimes outright lies
