Having a potential trade asset like this that we groomed and saw a future in (overlooking his injuries) is something we never did in the past, and something I always looked up to in jealousy on teams like the Patriots and Packers.
The Patriots have only traded 2 QBs.
Cassel and Bledsoe. Bledsoe obviously had more of a resume and he got them a 1st round pick.
Cassel got the Patriots a 2nd round pick, but they also traded away Mike Vrabel.
Packers traded away Matt Flynn, who only saw little playing time.
New England trades away good players all the time and somehow continue to be one of the best out there. It's crazy to me. They've traded away Jamie Collins, Chandler Jones, Logan Mankins, Randy Moss, Richard Seymour, and Deion Branch.
Also, I don't think McCarron has been 'groomed' exactly. He played 5 games and was injured his rookie season. McCarron is a trade asset, but won't get us much.
