I went the last two years to browns bengals game at Cleveland, the fans were not engaged. As for history very few fans care about old history, what the Browns did in 1940 or 1950 is not the reason fans get excited about their team.. Right now I will take the Jungle anyday over the Dog Pound...

Any team will have a base of "diehard fans" during the hard times. A lengthy period of hard times will make that base seem larger than it is. It doesn't take many.
