Market size shouldn't be the focus of this comparison it should be off size of fanbase and revenue generated from merchandise. That is where you might notice an interesting parallel between teams that seem to always be in the playoffs.
There are most certainly some things that make you scratch your head at times though about the NFL....Manning being garbage all season but going out on top, the wins for teams that line up perfectly with events in their regions, it just leaves room for doubt about it being unscripted. Compare it to MLB where there is no salary cap and dynasties can be bought and paid for, yet even the best teams don't have runs of dominance like the Patriots of late, it defies the law of averages.
Food for thought, Super Bowl I was Green Bay vs Kansas City.... oh what fun the league could have with the story line there, plus Rodgers the 24th pick vs Smith the 1st pick in the same draft, and then after all these years labeled a "game manager" Alex Smith realizes his dream and main events Wrestlemania to win the title.
