Andrew Whitworth - 2 Year contract -  With no signs of age and still improving remains our best LT and can kick inside to guard.
Kevin Zeitler -  Front loaded contract that breaks down to 9-10 mil a year.  With a weak guard class and no real replacements we have to invest in our future.
Brandon Lafell - Played well for us give him a reasonable longer contract.  Pay him like a #2 or 3 and if he demands more let him walk.
Eric Winston - Good backup and quality guy keep him around for his normal rate
Cedric Peerman - Get for his normal cheap rate and keep him as the special teams stud he is.



Cut:

Rey Malualuga - We eat no cost in letting him walk and he's way past his prime and a liability at this point.  - 5 mil saved
Domata Peko - Great guy but its time to replace - 4.5 saved
Dre Kirkpatrick - Drafted his replacement last year and he isn't worth the money he will be asking - 2.1 saved ( avoiding 13 mil franchise Estimated )
Hunt - Gone - 1 mil
Gilberry - gone - 1 mil
Karlos Dansby - Gone - 2 mil - Nick Vigil looks solid with Vinny Rey backing him up.

Phil Dawson (K) 49rs - We need a stout veteran kicker that can win games for us.  It seems like every year the x factor that loses games for us is our inconsistant kicking and with several good options this year its time we invested into a top tier kicker.

Brandon Carr (CB) Dal -  Little long in the tooth but should take a contract around 3.5 a year at this point.  Can serve as a rotational guy with WJ3



Unreasonable :  You never know in this league but these are the unreasonable signings that would be good for us.

Dontari Poe -  We screwed up last year not taking Nick Fairley and this would be an aweful high price to pay

Round 1 - REUBEN FOSTER - ILB - ALA



Foster is a vicious hitter with elite playmaking range and an ability to toggle between 225 and 240 pounds. Athleticism gives him cover ability that former teammate Reggie Ragland never possessed. Has Pro Bowl potential as a 3-4 inside linebacker or a 4-3 weak-side linebacker, but concerns over his medical history could be a consideration, according to some teams.

Personally I think he will fit in well as a ILB, but some people see him more as a WS LB.  Potentially we could bump Burfict into the middle which is honestly where I believe he belongs.  Either way this pick secures the run defense.

Round 2 - TACO CHARLTON - DE - MICHIGAN



"Inconsistent" has been the buzzword that has followed Charlton since coming to Michigan, but he began the process of shaking it during his senior season. Charlton is an ascending prospect with the size, length, athleticism and pass-rushing potential that NFL general managers dream of. What you see today might not be what you get. While his production coming out of college will be modest, he could become a substantially better player as a pro if he's committed to the weight room and willing to absorb coaching. High-impact defensive end with all-pro potential is his ceiling. His floor is solid starter.

Round 4 - pick 9  - ZAY JONES - WR - EAST CAROLINA



Possesses high football character and a desire to push himself forward. Record-breaking receptions totals in 2016 were due more to scheme and excessive targets than separation ability or top-end speed. As a one-on-one receiver on the pro level, he will have to prove he has the speed and quickness to uncover against man coverage if he is to become more than just wide receiver depth.

Love his size and speed which adds depth to compete for #2-3

Round 4 - Pick 32 - DONNEL PUMPHREY - RB - San Diego state



Pumphrey and Ron Dayne are now the top two rushers in FBS history, even though San Diego State's small and quick runner (listed at 5-foot-9, 180 pounds) couldn't be any different in style than the brutish former Heisman Trophy winner. Pumphrey beat the record in his final game, finishing off an All-American season where he led with nation with 2,133 rushing yards on 349 carries (tied for most in FBS) and 17 scores (along with 27-231 receiving).

Option back who converts mainly to a slot receiver with tested 40's at 4.33 the boy can move like lightning.

Round 4 - Pick 39 - ERIK MAGNUSON - OT - MICHIGAN



One of the better right tackles in the nation, Magnuson finished his career with the Wolverines with a first-team All-Big Ten season, starting every game for the Wolverines. Has starting experience at both guard and tackle. Solid athlete with loose hips and good lateral movement. Average feet but a clean, smooth kick slide. Understands his angles as a zone blocker and will give ground to gain ground on his cut-blocks.

Versatile Lineman who can play T/G/C and compete for a starting job.

First I just want to say that if I had to pick one player in this draft to get it would be a center, but the fact is this team is dug in like a tick on the subject and won't look for a replacement until after this year.  Secondly I strongly believe that DE is our biggest need because Michael Johnson isn't an every down end at this point in his career.  The reason I decided not to take a first round DE is the strength of the class, but I wouldn't for one second complain if we took a DE at 9.  

As for free agency I prioritized kickers because its a position that may be the most individually important role on the team besides the quarterback.  I know people will freak out with this statement, but how many games are won and lost because of a kicker and how many players put up more points than a kicker over a season.
