It's probably just that after a few people on or around the team have said good things about him, the human urge to sometimes jump the gun might have kicked in. Bottom line, nobody really knows what he's got until they see him play. The truth always comes out between the lines.
Predicting he'll be a star might be a bit over the top but hoping he'll be one seems pretty harmless, all things considered.
