Right on. I'm old school myself and hate change, but there's nothing old school about the scientifically engineered athletes of today. The hits are just way too brutal to not take safety seriously, and there's plenty of evidence that CTE is a serious issue that could ruin lives and - eventually - be the undoing of the NFL.
So for the sake of the sport and especially for the sake of the human beings that play, I hope the NFL does everything in it's power to make the game safer. Total shame about Schaffer. Exposed himself at a Church? Poor guy needs help, but I'm not sure CTE can be reversed.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.
