We tried this before needing blocking but drafting Ki-Jana Carter. With him, we weren't going to need blocking. He didn't even make it past the second preseason game. Against Detroit, only 2nd play of game, the ball snapped and the Lions came pouring in. 2 or 3 Lions actually hitting Ki-Jana as the QB turned to hand Carter the ball. No blocking and Carter injured forever. Oh, they paid that money so they kept him around injured.
I saw Ezekiel Elliott a lot in college and huge reason Ohio State beat Alabama, their hardest game in winning Championship. The best Ohio State RB since Eddie George. Dallas does nothing without Elliott last season. People saying Fournette is the next Elliott, I doubt that. The good news is some team will draft him before Bengals pick and Bengals already said they will not trade to move up. This is good because Bengals Front Office doesn't seem to have clue lately as team seems willing to go many more years without a play-off win.
With Hill who is one of better TD scoring RBs in NFL. With Gio back and if they resign Burkhead who team was raving about saying he is ready to tear up the NFL, then I do not see RB as a needs list area. I see O Line a needs list. I see LB a needs list. Looking at the mock drafts, I see those Alabama Linebackers who either one could come in here and start the next 10 years. In Round 2 there is 1st round talent at guard early in round 2. Losing either Whitworth or Zeitler or both we will need a top guard early in 2. IT looks like very soon we lose a lot of top players like last year, so a couple years ago Bengals being one of deepest teams in talent is about to change to one of weakest teams in talent. Bengals do have Pacman. He may be in jail or suspended by NFL all year, but they have their Pacman game.
The team that takes him ahead of us will be doing our front office a favor and maybe then front office will address the loss of these players to free agency we are having. There are going to be key areas to fill, with RB right now a strong area of team compared to glaring weak areas heading towards losing season if not addressed. We are close to losing a lot of depth in the D line also. We are close to forced to start 2 very unproven CBs in Dennard and Jackson which should be a day at the beach for opposing quarterbacks. We have been weak at LB for years because we haven't drafted LB in years. If we lose LaFell, again we weak at WR. The O line is a disaster area, our weakest area. Whoever drafts this RB ahead of us will be doing Bengals who don't know any better, a favor.
Elliot has played behind some pretty damn good lines.....just sayin.
