He lost a step (or two) and his style of play suffered because of it.

One key to the Steelers D's success with Troy was the other 10 guys stayed in their roles and let him do his thing.  They lacked that over the last couple years.

Have eleven guys on the same page at all times is hard...having 10 have to guess what #11 will do is harder!     But it worked because he had amazing skills.
