For the team's entire history, I'd have to say that the '88 team losing the Super Bowl was the biggest loss. That was probably the best Bengals team of all-time, and to lose (especially in that fashion) really hurt the team. They never really recovered, then we lost Wyche and Boomer. Which ushered in the "dark ages".
These are my exact thoughts as well. I didn't become a fan until 98, so I don't have the memories of watching them lose the Super Bowl live. I've only been able to experience it through stories and all the Super Bowl replays on NFLN.
That 2016 playoff game was devastating. I didn't think we were going to advance far in the playoffs, but I figured we'd come out fired up to play the Steelers. Instead, we snoozed for almost 3 full quarters before making a great comeback. Only to watch us lose in the most Bengals-esque way possible.
You can always trust an dishonest man to be dishonest. Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to look out for.
