We DRAFTED a kicker that only made 77% of his collegiate field goals?!

Keep in mind the college goal posts are ~6-8' WIDER than the NFL (making college kicking easier), the kicks are lower-pressure (and at Memphis he never played in any MAJOR games), and the block-rushing athletes are typically slower with less vertical ability.

The most disappointing pick thus far in the draft.   Sad

Also keep in mind he missed nothing at all under 30 yds (a BIG problem around here last year), and he hit 10, 50+ yd FG's in his career (another thing frequently missing around here). Oh, and there's the whole hash marks being wider in college, resulting in more angled kicks (which doesn't make them easier)

^^ THIS. Tempe is about 1,100 ft above sea level, and then there's the lack of humidity and the heat. All three factors play into how well a ball flies. They may not make a huge impact individually, but take all three together and a kicker from 1,100 ft in 85 degrees with 0 humidity will look much different at sea level, 35 degrees and rain/slush.
