From 1999 to 2016, here is how the Bengals offensive drives have stacked up compared to the rest of the NFL.
I list the top 5 while also including our division. I'll also list the worst team for reference:
Top 5 in percentage of drives that ended in a score:
1. Patriots- 41.3%
2. Colts- 40.7%
3. Packers- 38.0%
4. Saints- 37.5%
5. Chargers- 36.1%
6. Steelers- 36.1%
15. Ravens- 32.7%
18. Bengals- 31.8%
32. Browns- 26.8%
Percentage of drives that ended with a turnover:
1. Patriots- 11.1%
2. Chiefs- 12.1%
3. Jaguars- 12.8%
4. 49ers- 12.8%
5. Seahawks- 13.2%

20. Bengals- 14.4%
32. Cardinals- 16.4%
Percentage of drives that ended with a punt:

2. Colts- 37.4%
3. Packers- 38.1%
4. Patriots- 38.3%
5. Chargers- 38.8%
7. Steelers- 39.7%
18. Bengals- 42.7%
27. Ravens- 43.7%
32. Browns- 46.6%
"Fun" facts: Our most time-consuming drive of the last 18 seasons was on 12/16/2001 in a 15-14 loss to the Jets. The drive was the 6th longest in the NFL over that span, lasting exactly 12 minutes and 20 plays, resulting in a 1 yard TD run by Dillon. It was the first drive of the game and lasted almost the entire 1st quarter.
The most plays in a drive came 2 years earlier on 12/26/1999 in a 22-0 loss to the Ravens and Marvin Lewis. The oh-so-Bengals drive went 21 plays for 94 yards and ended in a blocked FG. Why we were attempting a FG from 6 yards out in the 4th quarter, down 16-0 to a legendary defense is anyone's guess.
On defense...
Percentage of drives where defense allowed a score:
1. Ravens- 28.2%
2. Patriots- 28.9% (and people say Brady carries that team)
3. Steelers- 29.3%
4. Eagles- 30.1%
5. Bears- 31.5%
18. Bengals- 33.6%
29. Browns- 35.7%
32. Saints- 36.5%
Percentage of drives where defense forced a turnover:
1. Panthers- 16.1%
2. Patriots- 15.9% (is this team well coached or what? Top 3 in pretty much everything.)
3. Buccaneers- 15.8%
4. Packers- 15.7%
5. Ravens- 15.0%
11. Bengals- 14.5% (we've always been good here)
13. Steelers- 14.3%
27. Browns- 13.3%
32. Texans- 12.2%
Percentage of drives where defense forced a punt:
1. Ravens- 46.6%
2. Steelers- 45.6% (Yikes...our division rivals are 1-2, and there's a substantial gap between 2 and 3)
3. Eagles- 43.9%
4. Jets- 43.6%
5. Dolphins- 43.2%
20. Bengals- 41.4%
23. Browns- 40.9%
