As the cap escalates, everyone gets more money. Guards are still not highly paid players. Bolling is 25th this year in the NFL amongst Guards in average pay at $5.2 mil and and Andre is tied for 29th at $3.25 mil. The median for a starting guard is still only $3 mil. The Patriots highest paid G is Joe Thuney at just over $800k. There are only 6 G's in the league averaging over $10 mil a year, only 25 making over $5 mil a year, and only 61 making over $1 mil. By comparison, there's 83 S's, 92 CB's, 138 LB's, 70 DT's,
81 DE's, 81 T's, and 100 WR's that average $1 mil or more per year. Zeitler is the highest paid G in the league, but still only tied for the 69th highest paid player. Among non-specialists, only FB's, TE's, and C's have a smaller max contract. Interesting side note, but TJ Johnson is actually the NFL's 22nd highest paid C.
Nah...you develop him for 2-3 years. Then right when he hits his stride he leaves.
It's the Zeitler scenario.
