Im not blaming Andy Dalton

But that's been known since he came into the league and the obvious solutions are either for him to (miraculously at this point) improve his awareness and performance when under pressure or build a strong OL around him. Clearly he still struggles under pressure so the only way to improve is to somehow improve the blocking. Unfortunately due to the decisions made by the Bengals this offseason, that may not be realistically achievable this season and we have to wait until next offseason to find improvements.

I'll follow this up with more about pocket presence and how good QBs like Brees have great pocket presence whereas Dalton has bad pocket presence.
Video of Drew Brees's pocket presence from 2013 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIP5KfOVgyo
You will see in that video that he has great feel in the pocket and does the necessary to keep the play alive.

Dalton, on the other hand, has a tendency to either just stand in place or bail to one side (most often the right).
This quote from Cian Fahey on Twitter after Whitworth left to LA...
Quote:Andy Dalton's lack of pocket presence is about to become relevant."

Also, this note from Scott Barrett on Dalton's 2016 performance when he has a clean pocket vs under pressure:
Quote:Andy Dalton Passer Rating (2016)

Clean Pocket: 102.5
Under Pressure: 57.1

No OL taken in first 150 picks.

Current projected starting OL:
LT = Obuehi (39.4)
LG = Boling (77.0)
C = Bodine (77.4)
RG = Smith (39.3)
RT = Fisher (43.5)

I've been trying to find a good compilation video of Dalton's lack of pocket presence since being a Bengal, but not having much luck. If someone finds one, please post.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!
