It really depends on what genre. If I am going overall, the 70's takes it for a lot of genres. I have to go 60's after that for spawning a lot of the 70's. For reasons listed above, the 90's served as a golden era for most modern music and saw Rock emerge reborn from the garbage that was most 80's rock. Still, the 80's was a stylistic divide from the 60's and 70's and they deserve a spot above the 2000's. The 2000's had some good folk/indie stuff and a new style of alt rock emerges. Still good hip hop. The 50's has the birth of RocknRoll
