People have entertainment options in LA. On top of that, it's a fickle city. There is no Glitz on either of those teams. When one of them starts winning, people will start showing up. Until then they are little more than a novelty. The Lakers and Dodgers are the only constants there.
Plop either of those teams in Salt Lake City, and they'd do fine.
