That's just it.....hype vs reality. I watched Johnny Fartball, living in SEC country, and he was a runner and an improviser. To me, he lacked discipline, and just didn't live up to the hype. It was pretty obvious to me, when the kid that followed him broke his records in his first game action in Div 1, that a lot of Fartball's success was coaching/scheme/system/surrounding talent related.......not the next coming of John Elway.
Guys like Smith and Dalton have no hype, therefore, no matter what they'll actually wind up accomplishing, it'll never be good enough in some people's eyes.
