Not necessarily. While it's true that Mike won't fire a coach with years left on his deal, the "lame duck" status didn't stop Mike from bringing Merv back after we went 4-12 in 2010.

The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.
