Darrin Simmons makes a lot of sense when it comes to internal candidates. ST has been solid most years Simmons has been the coordinator for that, but I think another word to describe it would be unspectacular. The exciting moments from ST have been few and far between.
Because of that, I think Simmons might be a sound choice but I think a majority of the fan base would be rather let down by such a hire.

Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
