Although, "Mayfield" isn't that common of a last name. At least I've never met any. Some of the better NFL QB's had very unique names. How many Montana's do you know? Or Marinos, Roethlisbergers, Esiasons, Unitas', Elways, Aikmans, Bledsoes, Brees', Fluties, Simms, Favres, Starrs, Moons, Tarkentons... you get the idea.
Manning, Anderson and Brady are the exceptions.
I've know a Starr family, A couple Simms families and hot sisters with the Bledsoe name.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.
