How many NFL GMs that make the personnel decisions for their teams are also coaches?
I agree that the coach would give some insight, but I think being a head coach doesn't automatically make someone an excellent evaluator of talent, especially when you look at guys that haven't been given playing time when they clearly deserve it or guys that have just been buried on the depth chart, even though they're better than guys in front of them.
Who was it that had to go to Marvin to tell him to start another (younger) player over him? John Thornton?
It takes skill to craft a roster to play to a team's strengths, which is another area that I just don't trust Marvin in.
