Kitna played for four different NFL teams and had the best season of his career under Zampese in 2003 when we won the ranked 9th in passer rating, 3dr in passing tds and won NFL Comeback Player of the Year.
Palmer played for three different NFL teams and also had the best season of his career under Zampese in 2005 when he finished 1st in passing tds, 2nd in passer rating, and 4th in yards. Two of his three Pro Bowl seasons were under Zampese.
Andy Dalton was a second round pick, but he has gone to three Pro Bowls under Zampese and that does not include 2015 when he had a 106.2 passer rating.
Football coaches, as they relate to players is a bit of a generational thing. Not every coach and player can mesh well enough on a personal level to have the appropriate communication needed for building success. I'm sure that Zamp is a fine Xs and Os guy, but obviously he wrote a worded down game plan that lead to his demise as OC.
The best coaches aren't always the ones with the most brilliant mind, but the ones that can communicate best to tweak the little things that lead to better execution of the basics.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations
