When Mike retires/passes he’ll give control to Katie. She learned from Mike, so don’t expect huge changes. As long as Katie, Troy, the kids, and the rest of the Family are taking annual salaries and dividends then why change a good thing? The team doesn’t have to win to be profitable. Mike has proven that over 27 years. Minimal investment risk, safe, predictable returns.
This is what happens when a team’s owner did not buy the team after already making their fortune. The Browns run the Bengals like a small family restaurant in a small town. The product is average to decent at times, but has no competition for its patronage. Hence, there’s no incentive to change the product if consumers continue darkening the doorstep. The Bengals are a pretty consistent 6-10 to 10-6 team, and that’s just fine with the Brown family.
