The point is that you make up stuff in your head and insist on believing it even when all the evidence says you are wrong.
You are flat out admitting that no matter what the players or coaches or anyone who actually knows what happed says you are not going to believe them because it conflicts with what you made up in your head.
It is called cognitive dissonance.
