That doesn't really always work because 1) he can get knocked off or delayed on his route from contact from DBs and/or 2) Dalton isn't the best at hitting a WR in stride on a go route down the sideline. It's a recipe for failure.
Ross is more than just a straight line speed guy. He's very shifty. He needs the ball on short and intermediate routes using the whole field.

They act like if he's not running a go route down the sideline he has to sit the bench. I just about guarantee the Rams, Chiefs, whoever wouldn't use him on just go routes.
