They played well, showed their talent, proved a large portion of the problem is playcalling and coaching and then lost just in time to preserve the draft position.
If we can replicate this over the final weeks of the season, we can finally get rid of Marvin, find a new "hot" coach who sees the talent on our roster and is excited to build around it all while maintaining a good draft position to potentially take a franchise QB (depending on how many end up declaring and are determined to be worth a first round pick) and the new era of Bengals football can begin.
The alternative was winning some meaningless game before going 0-3 in the final 3 games and just getting a worse draft pick.
Holy smokes I feel really sorry for you and anyone who thinks this is possible. Hot does not equal cheap. Hot does not equal stupid. Every year is next year for this team. We’ve had some reason to be hopefully and it is usually how good we finish the year when the team misses the playoffs. Or that they at least made the playoffs, even though they were horrible at the end of the year. Next year is never going to come with the current configuration. The two people that need to have an edge are the HC and QB. We’re trying to field dress a deer with two butter knives.
