Baker Mayfield was too, but that didn't stop him from being drafted 1st overall and breaking the rookie record for TD passes and having a 6-7 record on a team that was winless the year before.
My point with comparing to Mayfield is cockiness is fine if he can back it up. Let's wait and see how he would do in the NFL before writing him off due to his perceived cocky attitude.

Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
